30, 2008) The Georgia
State women's tennis improved to 9-9 overall with a 6-1 win over Wofford on
Sunday afternoon at the Reeves
Tennis Center.
The
Panthers opened the match winning three straight doubles matches to clinch the
point. In singles, State cruised to five
wins. Katerina Gresova came from behind
to win 11-9 in the tiebreaker at No. 5 singles, after falling 4-6 in the first
set and winning 7-5 in the second. Dariana Kozmina won her sixth straight
singles match, blanking Adriane Hodges 6-1, 6-2 on court #2. Rachel Malina took her third straight
victory, winning 6-2, 6-3 at No. 4, while Kiara Powell redeemed herself from
Saturday's loss and rolled to a 6-4, 6-0 win over Haley Baird at No. 3.
Wofford's only point came from Caley Wetzig's 6-2, 6-3 victory over Kiera
Strickland at No. 6. With the loss, the
Terriers fall to 11-3 overall.
Georgia State
competes in its final road match on Wednesday, traveling to Morrow, Ga. for a 1 p.m. match up against Clayton State. The Panthers then return home for its final
match of the season against Troy
on April 9.
