Yellow Jackets Drop Panthers, 6-1

ATLANTA (Feb. 26, 2008) No. 70 Georgia State dropped a 6-1 decision to No. 36 Georgia Tech (8-1) on Tuesday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center, falling to 1-7 on the year.

The Panthers dropped the doubles point after two straight Yellow Jackets victories sealed the deal. Guillermo Gomez and David North pulled in the first win after downing William Adeimy and Trenton Spinks 8-2 at No. 2. Later, Aleksandar Elezovic and Ross Hopper fell 8-5 to Miguel Muguruza and Eliot Potvin at No. 3. Anze Cevka and Nejc Podkrajsek were able to pull out a 8-7 (7-4) win at No. 1, but Tech had already picked up the doubles point.

In singles competition, the Yellow Jackets quickly went to 2-0 after Cevka fell 6-2, 6-2 to North at the No. 2 spot. A loss on court six put the Yellow Jackets up 3-0. Gomez captured the fourth point and the Tech win after defeating Podkrajsek 6-2, 6-3 at No. 1. Elezovic was able to put the Panthers on the board with a 6-7 (4-7), 7-5, 10-8 win at No. 3.
