MOBILE, Ala. (Feb.10, 2008) The Georgia State women's tennis team fell to 3-4 on the season after a 4-3 loss to No. 55 South Alabama on Sunday at the Bruce David Lubel Memorial Tennis Courts.

South Alabama earned the first point of the day in doubles competition. Rachel Malina and Dariana Kozmina fell 8-2 to Michaela Babicova and Erica Krisan at No. 2. A second Georgia State loss by doubles partners Martina Nitkova and Katerina Gresova at the No. 1 position clinched the doubles point for the Lady Jaguars.

In singles action, Georgia State took three of six points, with one by forfeit at No. 6. Kiara Powell earned the point at No. 4, defeating Katie Welch 7-5, 0-1 before Welch was forced to retire. Nitkova pushed her singles match to three sets, defeating Babicova at No. 1, 6-1, 1-6, 6-3. Kozmina fell short at No. 2, losing 6-2, 6-3 to Adrianna Solarova while Malina dropped a 6-1, 6-4 decision to Erica Krisan at No. 3. With the win, South Alabama improves to 3-0.

The Panthers will travel back to Alabama on Tuesday to face No. 29 Auburn at Yarbrough Tennis Center at 4 p.m.
