Georgia State women's golf finished fourth out of 15 teams at the UNCG Starmount Classic after posting a 301-301-312 (+62). Players found the conditions difficult at Starmount Country Club on Tuesday, pushing scorecard totals above average. The fourth-place finish was good for the Panthers, considering two players who could help lead the team to another NCAA bid, were overseas finishing in the top 25 of the World Amateur championships.
Anna Scott finished as the low scorer for Georgia State with a fifth place finish after carding 72-75-75 (+9). This week marked Scott's return to the golf course after missing the first two events of the year with an elbow injury. The two-time All-CAA player could be a key cog in the team's goal of another league title and NCAA bid.
Cathrine Madsen battled the tough conditions to a 79 on the final day. Her tournament finishes with an 11th place finish after scoring 73-74-79 (+13).
Sandra Maier fired the low round of Monday for the Panthers, but struggled in the final round. Her final round of 83 left her in 32nd place after a 76-73-83 (+19) tournament.
Nicole Loesch continued her consistent play through the week, finishing the tournament with scores of 80-79-80 (+26) and a 50th place finish.
Claire Starkie rounded out the Panthers' scoring at Greensboro with a 78, improving on her previous two rounds. Starkie posted 83-80-78 (+28) for a 55th place finish.
East Carolina's Abby Bools gave up her lead in the final round by firing a 77. Stacey Miller of Illinois State played opportunistic golf to pick up three strokes on Bools and take the medalist honors with scores of 74-72-72 (+5).
Host UNC-Greensboro defeated East Carolina on a scorecard tiebreaker for the victory in the team event at 42-over. East Carolina made up two strokes over the final 18 to catch the host. CAA rival UNC-Wilmington finished third at 49-over. Florida International rounds out the top five at 70-over.
