ATLANTA (Jan 25, 2008) No. 57 Georgia State 1-0) rolled through Mercer with five straight singles wins to earn a 6-1 victory over the Bears on Friday afternoon.
In doubles, Anze Cevka and Nejc Podkrajsek won at No. 1, 8-1 and William Adeimy and Aleksandar Elezovic battled to an 8-6 win at No. 2. Trenton Spinks and Ross Hopper partnered up at No. 3 and dropped an 8-4 decision to Ryan Ingram and Justin Wimpee.
In singles, Podkrajsek took out Tobias Ohrstrom in two sets, 6-1 and 6-2 as Elezovic downed Champan Mitchell at No. 3, 6-1, 6-4, to make the team score 4-0. Adeimy racked up another point for the Panthers defeating Fernando Armendaris in a tie breaker at No. 4, 6-4, 2-6, (11-9). Cevka battled to the wire with senior Ivan Besancon at No. 2 and pulled off a 7-5, 2-6, (10-5) victory in a tie breaker.
This match marked the first as head coach at Georgia State for Jarod Camerota.
