HOT SPRINGS, Va. (April 22, 2007) -- The Georgia State women's golf team finished in second-place at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships after firing a final round of 302 for a total of 927.
UNC Wilmington took home the title with a three-round total of 910.
"I am super proud of them today," said head coach Cathy Mant. "I am more proud today than any round the entire year. We had a huge lead to make up, but they fought and picked up 12 shots on the front nine."
Junior Joanna Klatten finished tied for second-place after a final round of 70, which matched her career-low round. Klatten finished four shots behind medalist Ashley Tait of UNCW. Klatten also earned All-Tournament honors after her performance.
Freshman Nicole Loesch recorded a new career best finish as she tied for fourth-place after a final round of 77 and a tournament total of 230. Loesch earned All-Tournament honors after her performance.
Freshman Cathrine Madsen also recorded a new career best finish as she tied for eighth-place with a final round of 77 and a 234 total.
Sophomore Karin Dedering tied for 16th-place after a final round of 80. Senior Pamela Torres finished tied for 18th-place after a final round of 78.
"It was a difficult season missing two of top 5 starters, but the others came in and worked hard and gave their best effort," Mant said. "Everybody fought hard. It was a little disappointing because we didn't meet our goals, but once again we were the last to leave the driving range again because they are working to be better. The freshman gained a lot of experience and that will be wonderful for what they can carry on next year."
