HOT SPRINGS, Va. (April 21, 2007) -- The Georgia State women's golf team moved up two spots and into second place after the second round at the Colonial Athletic Association Championships. The Panthers fired a second round of 310 at The Homestead (Old Course) to move into second-place.
UNC Wilmington stands in first place and is 22-shots in front of State entering the final round.
"I am proud of the team's effort and dedication today," said head coach Cathy Mant. "We are pretty far behind, but it's not over till it's over. We have nothing to lose tomorrow so we are going to go out and fire away."
Freshman Nicole Loesch is tied for fifth-place after a second round total of 76. Loesch is four shots behind the leaders.
"Nicole still has a chance in this because of her distance and the number of par 5s on the course," Mant said. "We are going to try to pump her up and hopefully she can fire a low number."
Junior Joanna Klatten is tied for 11th-place after a second round of 77. Freshman Cathrine Madsen is tied for 13th-place after a second round of 78. Sophomore Karin Dedering fired a 79 and is in 17th-place. Senior Pamela Torres finished with an 83 and is tied for 24th-place.
State will tee off in final round action at 11:06 a.m. Sunday morning and is paried with UNC Wilmington and Xavier.
