HARRISONBURG, Va. (03/31/07) ? Jackie Jaegle (Cohutta, Ga./Northwest Whitfield) hit the game-winning two-RBI double as the Georgia State softball team split a CAA twin bill with James Madison on Saturday afternoon at the JMU Softball Complex. The Panthers dropped the first game 2-1 before taking the second game 4-0.
Jaegle smacked a two-RBI double in the first inning to give State an early 2-0 lead in the second game, crossing Danielle Roddy (Canton, Ga./Woodstock) and Mary Kathryn Branan (Alpharetta, Ga./Milton). In the third frame, Lily Skelton (McDonough, Ga./Union Grove) added two more runs for the Panthers when she doubled down the left line to plate Nikki Bradford (McDonough, Ga./Henry County) and Jaegle. The 4-0 lead would hold as Georgia State defeated James Madison.
Ashley Cowan (7-3) collected the win for the Panthers, throwing a complete game and forcing 17 ground outs. Branden Moss (3-5) took the loss for the Dukes while striking out three batters and giving up four earned runs in 2.2 innings.
In the opening contest, the Dukes scored first in the third inning on a single after the previous batter hit a triple. The Panthers answered in the top of the fourth as Jaegle, who reached base on a double, scored on a passed ball. James Madison scored again in the bottom of the frame on a single up the middle.
Madi Gore (13-6) picked up the loss for State, throwing a complete game and fanning six batters. Jenny Clohan (7-6) grabbed the win for James Madison.
Georgia State will face James Madison in a single game to complete the three-game series tomorrow at noon.
