ATHENS, Ga. (March 25, 2007) -- The Georgia State women's golf team improved again for the final round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. The Panthers finished in 17th-place and finished with a final round of 317 giving them a three-round total of 960.

Auburn was able to go wire-to-wire to pick up the win with an 881 tournament total.

"I am disappointed in our results especially with how much work we have put in," said head coach Cathy Mant. "I am happy that had we had the opportunity to compete in this prestigious tournament. It was good to see the top ranked teams and see that there are not that many differences between us and them. We are going to keep working hard and get ready to host our tournament. Our goal is to still to win the conference tournament."

Junior Joanna Klatten led the way finishing in a tie for 39th-place after a final round of 77 and a tournament total of 229. Freshman Cathrine Madsen tied for 63rd-place after a 77 and a 236 total.

"I was proud that Cathrine was able to turn it around and shoot 2-under on the back nine today," Mant said.

Freshman Nicole Loesch finished tied for 71st-place after a final round of 80 and a 240 total. Senior Pamela Torres finished in 91st-place with a 258 total and a final round of 83. Sophomore Karin Dedering ended with an 86 finishing in 93rd-place with a 263.

State will host its next tournament in Stockbridge, Ga. April 2-3 for the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate.
