GAINESVILLE, Fla. (March 10, 2007) -- The Georgia State women's golf team sits in 13th-place after two rounds at the SunTrust Lady Gator Invitational in Gainesville, Fla. The Panthers opened with rounds of 317 and 307 for a 624 total.

Host school, Florida, holds the overall lead with a two-round team total of 585.

After the first round, State sat in 14th-place and was ready to make a move. The Panthers responded by shooting 10 shots better in the second round to move into 13th-place overall entering the final round Sunday.

"We had some big numbers today, but we hung in there and kept going in the second round," said head coach Cathy Mant. "Everyone is working really hard. Frenchie (Joanna Klatten) played well today and had a great second round with a 2-over par."

Junior Joanna Klatten led State with rounds of 75 and 72 and is currently tied for 15th-place overall. Freshman Cathrine Madsen fired rounds of 80 and 76 and sits tied for 50th-place. Senior Pamela Torres ended with rounds of 80 and 78 and is tied for 60th-place. Sophomore Claire Starkie posted two scores of 81 and is tied for 77th-place. Sophomore Karin Dedering ended with rounds of 85 and 87 and sits in 87th-place. Freshman Nicole Loesch is playing as an individual and posted two rounds of 80 for a tie for 70th-place.

"We are going to go out tomorrow and keep plugging away," Mant said. "Hopefully, we can get under 300 and come away feeling good about the tournament."

The Panthers will tee-off Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for the final round of the Lady Gator.
