ATLANTA (02/02/07) ? The Georgia State (1-2) women's tennis team dominated Kennesaw State (0-1) 6-1 at the Piedmont Tennis Center on Friday afternoon.  The Panthers won the doubles point and all but one singles point.

In doubles action, all three Panthers duos won their matches.  Dariana Kozmina (Kharkiv, Ukraine) and Martina Nitkova (Vratimov, Czech Republic) finished first with a decisive 8-1 win.  New duo Mateja Podgorsek (Domzale, Slovenia) and Brittany Smith (Toronto, Ontario) sealed the doubles point with an 8-3 victory over Karen Ammann and Caroline Pace.  Rachel Malina (Decatur, Ga.) and Emma Stahl-Johansson (Sodertalje, Sweden) also had success in a tough 8-6 match.

Kozmina led the singles off with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Mercedes Cobos.  Kiera Strickland (Roswell, Ga.) followed with a quick 6-0, 6-0 victory.  Malina clinched State's first win with a straight set victory over Giselle Nakaura.  Nitkova and Podgorsek also triumphed over their respective Owl oppenents.  Stahl-Johansson dropped a strong three set match to Kennesaw St.'s Jeni Thomas.

The Panthers will return to action tomorrow against Louisiana-Monroe at the Piedmont Tennis Center.  Matches are scheduled to begin at noon.
