MIAMI, Fla. (Feb. 19, 2007) -- The Georgia State women's golf team sits tied for eighth-place after a round two total of 317 at the Papa Johns Collegiate heading into the final round of competition. Louisville still holds the overall lead after a round two total of 313.

"The girls worked really hard today we teed off at 8 a.m. this morning and practiced till 6 p.m. after our round," said head coach Cathy Mant. "It was a long day but I look for big things tomorrow."

Sophomore Claire Starkie improved in round two and moved into a tie for ninth-place overall. Starkie fired a 3-over 75, just two shots behind the low-score of the day at 73. Junior Joanna Klatten also improved with a 78, which moved her into a tie for 30th-place. Freshman Cathrine Madsen fired an 82 and sits tied for 36th-place. Senior Pamela Torres is tied for 47th-place after a round two score of 85. Freshman Nicole Loesch is tied for 57th-place after an 82.

"I am proud of Claire Starkie's round of 75, which was just two-shots off the best round of the day," Mant said. "Our goal tomorrow is to have four players shoot in the 70s and shoot somewhere around 305. The hole locations have made it difficult and the numbers are high at the moment but we will get there."

The final round of the Papa Johns Collegiate will take place tomorrow morning.
