Veilleux Named to Weekly Manning Award Nominee

ATLANTA-- Quarterback Christian Veilleux earns a nomination for The Manning Award's "Stars of the Week", following his big performance against Vanderbilt on Saturday.

The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in 2004 to honor the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting. Since the Manning Award started recognizing Stars of the Week in 2011, 519 different quarterbacks from 133 schools have been recognized. Sixty-six players were honored during the 2023 season.

Veilleux was one of eight quarterbacks to receive a nomination for the award. 

The starting quarterback accounted for 273 total yards and 4 touchdowns, including one rushing touchdown, in the Panthers' 36-32 upset agaisnt Vanderbilt. Veilleiux's performance was highlighted by the game winning 25-yard touchdown pass to receiver Ted Hurst to secure Georgia State's first victory over an SEC team since 2019, when the Panthers defested Tennessee.

Fans can vote for the top performance from this past weekend until 10:00 a.m ET on Wednesday on the Manning Award's social media (@ManningAward). The top vote-getter will be announced as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week on.
