ATLANTA — Georgia State football's 2026 season opener against North Carolina A&T Aggies football has been moved to the evening of Friday, Sept. 4, with Friday Night Fireworks returning to Center Parc Credit Union Stadium.
The matchup was originally scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 5, but the change gives fans the opportunity to celebrate the start of the season before enjoying a long weekend for Labor Day. Kickoff the season with a primetime home opener and go into a three-day weekend with a bang!
The move also reintroduces Friday Night Fireworks, featuring the largest fireworks display in Atlanta. The celebration nods to a beloved Atlanta Braves tradition during their time playing at the stadium, when fans would stick around after Friday games for a fireworks spectacular.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for pregame festivities and pack the stadium for a Friday night stage against the Aggies and stick around after the game for a free postgame firework show. Additional game day details, including kickoff time, will be announced at a later date.
