Gareth Steyn and 
Connor MacMillan both shot under par to lead Georgia State to a tie for eighth place after one round of the Linger Longer Invitational at the Great Waters Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee.
Steyn shot a 2-under par 70 and is tied for 17th place in the individual standings. MacMillan is one shot behind after shooting 71, putting him tied for 29th.
Jordan Jung and 
Daniel Medellin each shot 73 for the Panthers.
Georgia State finished the round at 1-under par (287), tied with Charlotte for eighth place in the 14-team field.
The event features a strong field, including Georgia, Georgia Tech and Alabama. The Crimson Tide shot a 21-under par 267, nine shots ahead of second-place Virginia (12-under), followed by Georgia (9-under) and Georgia Tech (8-under).
The Linger Longer Invitational continues with 18 holes Monday and Tuesday.
