ATLANTA, GA— Despite big bats from
Caroline Brownlee and
Carolyn Deady, the Panthers came up short in both contests on Saturday afternoon.
GSU vs. Butler
Butler took an early 2-0 lead in its first at-bat, but Georgia State put up one run in the bottom of the second to decrese the Bulldogs' advantage to one. Butler scored one more in the third to gain another two-run advantage.
Despite a three-run home run from Butler to advance the score to 6-1, the Panthers stayed in the contest with two runs late in the fifth inning to decrease the Bulldogs' advantage to three.
Carolyn Deady kept the Panthers alive with a two-run homer to center field, but ultimately fell 6-5 to Butler.
GSU vs. Belmont:
Georgia State gave up an early 6-0 lead in the first three innings, but
Caroline Brownlee hit her second home run of the day to bring close the score to 6-3. The panthers allowed two more runs over two innings, falling 8-3 to the Bruins.
The Panthers close out the Panther Invitational against Butler Feb. 18 at 12:30 p.m.
