Hunter collected eight tackles with one tackle for loss and a forced fumble.
He and the GSU defense held the Huskies to zero points and 132 yards of offense to take a commanding 28-0 lead through three quarters before UConn managed two late scores.
The sixth-year senior from Tampa, Fla., helped Georgia State hold UConn to just 50 yards rushing while forcing three turnovers.
Hunter's forced fumble is the sixth of his career to tie the Georgia State career record.
Hunter and the 2-0 Panthers face their first road test with a trip to Charlotte Saturday at 6 p.m. Georgia State's next home game at Center Parc Stadium is Saturday, Sept. 30 vs. Troy (time TBA).
