ATLANTA -- Georgia State fell 14-7 to the Dukes in a hard-fought battle Saturday afternoon.
"It was a very disappointing loss," Head Coach Dell McGee said. "I thought our defense played well, but we're still getting hurt by the small details, and that all starts in practice."
Rashad Amos paced the Panthers rushing attack by accumulating 30 yards over the course of the game. Cameran Brown also added 13 yards on the ground, averaging 13 yards per carry.
Camden Overton-Howard hauled in seven catches for 65 yards and one score. Ted Hurst made his presence felt in the passing game, recording three receptions for 60 yards.
Bishop Thomas showed out for the Georgia State defense, recording five tackles, 1.0 TFL, and one sack.
The Georgia State offense did a good job keeping drives alive, converting on 50 percent of third-down attempts.
Defensively, Georgia State held up strong against the James Madison offensive attack, holding the Dukes to 285 total yards.
How It Happened
The Panthers opened the scoring with a touchdown late in the first quarter, going up 7-0 with 4:03 remaining. From there, Georgia State's offense was held in check as James Madison responded with 14 unanswered points to secure the win.
