Panthers Achieve Second-Highest GPA Ever for Spring Semester

ATLANTA – Georgia State Athletics enjoyed one of its most successful semesters with a combined 3.31 grade point average for the spring 2023 term, the Panthers' second-highest semester GPA on record.
 
The only higher GPA by the department was the 3.40 posted in spring 2020.
 
GSU athletics has maintained a GPA (semester or cumulative) of 3.0 or higher for 30 consecutive semesters, dating back to 2008.
 
The strong spring performance followed a 3.24 GPA last fall, giving the Panthers a 3.27 GPA for the 2022-23 academic year.
 
A total of 232 student-athletes earned spring academic honors with a semester GPA of 3.0 or higher, including 51 honorees on the President's List, Georgia State's highest academic distinction signifying a semester GPA of 4.0 or higher.
 
The Georgia State's women's tennis team led the way with a 4.03 semester GPA for the spring. Combined with a 4.10 GPA last fall, head coach LeTrone Mason's squad posted a 4.06 GPA for the academic year.
 
Other top performing teams this spring include women's cross country with a 3.93 GPA, the Sun Belt Conference champion beach volleyball team with a 3.74, men's golf with a 3.73, and softball and women's golf at 3.72.
 
All 15 Georgia State programs posted a team GPA above 2.8, with 12 teams at 3.3 or higher, including seven programs above 3.6.
 
In addition to the 51 student-athletes on the President's List, 93 individuals earned Dean's List status with a semester GPA of 3.5-3.99, and another 88 student-athletes made the Athletic Director's Honor Roll with a 3.0 or higher.
