Women's Soccer Assistant Marchant Accepts Head Position at Georgia College

ATLANTA— Having served under Panthers head coach Ed Joyce as an assistant for the Georgia State women's soccer team for three seasons, Jack Marchant has accepted the position of head women's soccer coach at Georgia College as announced by the school on Tuesday. Marchant joins the Bobcats staff following a successful tenure with GSU that saw the team chart a total of 28 victories and secure Sun Belt Conference semifinal berths in all three seasons coaching for the Panthers.

Marchant arrived at GSU after spending two seasons as an assistant at The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. Prior to this role, Marchant spent a season coaching for Division II Anderson University and overseeing the development of goalkeepers with the Clemson Anderson Soccer Alliance in Pendleton, S.C.

Marchant began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of Rio Grande in Ohio. Working as a goalkeepers coach for the men's team, Marchant helped coach the Red Storm to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.

As a player, Marchant made five appearances in the NAIA National Tournament while competing for Rio Grande. He was twice named all-conference and earned All-American honors for 2012 while helping lead the Red Storm to two semifinals appearances and a trip to the national finals.

After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2012, Marchant completed master's degrees in both Business Administration and Education while studying at Rio Grande. Prior to moving to the United States in 2008, the native of Leeds, England spent three seasons playing for Hull City A.F.C. as a youth and competed in the FA Youth Cup.

"I am incredibly happy for Jack as he takes on the next chapter in his coaching career," Joyce said. "He has been invaluable for us during his time here and he will be missed dearly. We wish him the best of luck and look forward to tracking his progress."

Marchant will enter his head coaching tenure at Georgia College officially with a welcome press conference set for Thursday, July 14 at 4 p.m. ET.
