Faddoul Scores in Regular-Season Finale as Panthers Fall 2-1 at ODU

NORFOLK, Va. – Georgia State women's soccer closed out the 2025 regular season on the road Wednesday night, falling 2-1 to Old Dominion at the ODU Soccer Complex. Junior forward Aaliyah Faddoul scored her sixth goal of the year as the Panthers finished the regular season 9-7-2 overall and 5-4-1 in Sun Belt play.

Old Dominion struck early and controlled much of the first half, netting a pair of goals before the break. Riley Mullen opened the scoring in the 20th minute off an assist from Yuliia Khrystiuk, then Andrea Balcazar Algarin doubled the lead in the 28th minute, again assisted by Khrystiuk, to give the Monarchs a 2-0 halftime advantage.

The Panthers tightened defensively in the second half and began to generate attacking chances. In the 71st minute, Faddoul drew a foul inside the box and calmly converted the ensuing penalty kick to cut the deficit to 2-1. It marked her sixth goal of the season and fifth in Sun Belt play.

Georgia State pressed for an equalizer in the final 15 minutes, with shots from Brook Nelson and Reese Gordon, but ODU goalkeeper Ellie Goodrich made two saves to preserve the lead.

Goalkeeper Ariana Anderson tallied five saves for GSU, while Faddoul led the offense with three shots, all on target. The Panthers finished with six total shots and held Old Dominion scoreless over the final 45 minutes.

Despite the loss, Georgia State secured a spot in the upcoming Sun Belt Championship. The Panthers will open tournament play on Monday, Nov. 4, with seeding and opponent to be announced.
