Softball Travels to Chattanooga for DH Tuesday

ATLANTA -- Georgia State will make the short drive up I-75 on Tuesday to face Chattanooga in a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. at Frost Stadium. Both games will air live on ESPN+.

Georgia State (8-14, 1-2 Sun Belt) is coming off a stretch of playing seven out of 10 games against ranked opponents. Chattanooga (11-12, 0-0 SoCon) went 2-2 in the MTSU Invitational over the weekend.

The two teams have split 32 previous meetings with each team winning 16 games in the series.

The Panthers knocked off No. 22 Louisiana 4-1 on Saturday for the first win over a ranked opponent since 2018. It also marked just the second time ever defeating the Sun Belt Conference preseason favorites.

Junior Bailee Richardson continues to lead Georgia State with a .353 batting average to go along with seven home runs, 22 RBI, and a .735 slugging percentage. Catcher Carolyn Deady has powered out five home runs including a pair against Louisiana over the weekend.

Under first-year head coach Angie Nicholson, Georgia State has been aggressive on the basepaths, ranking No. 19 in the nation (second in Sun Belt) with 1.95 stolen bases per game. Daisy Hess and Emily Brown lead the way with eight stole bases each.

Six different pitchers have started in the circle for the Panthers, led by Emily Buck with a 4-4 record and a 3.16 ERA in 11 appearances.

Following the doubleheader on Tuesday, Georgia State will host Dartmouth on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
