Beach Volleyball Announces Spring 2022 Schedule

ATLANTA- With the start of the season just one month away, head beach volleyball coach Beth Van Fleet announced the team's spring 2022 schedule on Wednesday morning. GSU is set to open with tournament play on back-to-back weekends that will feature exciting matchups against five teams that finished ranked Top 20 in the AVCA Collegiate Beach Volleyball Final Poll last year.

GSU will travel to New Orleans, La. to compete in the Green Wave Invitational on Feb. 25-26. The season opening tournament will include matches against host Tulane on Friday, Feb. 25 at 10:30 a.m. ET as well as against LSU. LSU ended the season last spring ranked No. 4 in the Final Poll.

The following weekend the Panthers travel to Fort Worth, Texas for the Horned Frog Challenge. GSU will face Stetson and Florida State for the first day of tournament play on Friday, March 4. The team then gears up to face South Carolina and host TCU on Saturday, March 5.

GSU returns home for its annual Day of Duals at the GSU Beach Volleyball Complex on Wednesday, March 9 beginning at 8 a.m. ET as the team plays host to Coastal Carolina, Tusculum and Mercer. Complete with new sand, the GSU Beach Courts will see match play for the first time since the renovation.

Following the team's bye week the Panthers will see nonstop action in regular season play for six straight weekends.

The team will travel to Gulf Shores, Ala. on Tuesday, March 15 for the fourth annual March to May. One of the nation's premier beach volleyball tournaments, the competition will showcase some of the most talented and highly touted teams across the country. GSU will rematch Tulane and LSU as well as face off against Grand Canyon and UCLA in matches that are set to be played on March 18-19. UCLA ended last season ranked No. 2 in the Final Poll.

The team then heads to Deland, Fla. for the Stetson Beach Bash to close out the month of March. The tournament will feature yet another competitive slate of matches as GSU will take on FIU and FAU as well as rematch host Stetson— all three of which are teams that ended last season ranked in the Top 20.

April brings further competition against quality opponents as well as an additional home outing for the Panthers. The team will host the annual GSU Diggin Duals on April 8-9 at the GSU Beach Complex. Other notable matchups on the schedule are against Pepperdine, North Florida and Tampa.

The Panthers ended a highly successful spring 2021 campaign by falling just short in the CCSA Championship Final. In the team's first spring as a new member of Conference USA, GSU will close out scheduled play in the CUSA Championships in Huntsville, Al. with hopes of securing the title and returning to Gulf Shores by earning a trip to the NCAA National Championships.
