Sandy Panthers Clinch Conference Win at Chanticleer Challenge

CONWAY, S.C.-- The Georgia State beach volleyball team capped off the the Chanticleer Challenge, hosted by Sun Belt opponent Coastal Carolina, with a 3-2 win over conference foe Coastal Carolina on Saturday evening. 

The Sandy Panthers also saw action against ranked competition in No. 4 Cal Poly and No. 15 Florida Atlantic during the tournament.

Georgia State opened the weekend against fourth-ranked Cal Poly and Tulane on Friday before facing No. 15 Florida Atlantic and Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

Georgia State opened the tournament with a 4-1 loss to No. 4 Cal Poly. 

Georgia State picked up its lone point on court four as Kealy Dinner and Ella Mozeleski earned a three-set victory over Quinn Perry and Elise Lenahan, 20-22, 23-21, 15-10.

The Panthers finished Friday with a 5-0 loss against Tulane.

Georgia State opened Saturday competition with a 4-1 loss to No. 15 Florida Atlantic in the third match of the weekend 

Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale earned the Panthers' point on court one, defeating Olivia Strandberg and Ava Koehl in three sets, 16-21, 21-18, 19-17.

Ella Mozeleski and Kaylie Drysdale won set two of the match, but ultimately dropped a three-set match on court four to Reese Edwards and Kendall Mignerey, 21-14, 12-21, 15-12.

Georgia State closed the weekend with a 3-2 win over Coastal Carolina 

Savannah Ebarb and Bella Troncale opened the dual with a straight-set victory on court one over Frida Meincke Lyo and Emma Kunaus, 21-17, 21-16.

Coastal Carolina tied the match on court two as Kristyna Koblizkova and Anna Rita defeated Adaline Thompson and Noalani Nuez, 21-17, 21-17.

Danica Singleton and Michaela Jefferson gave Georgia State a second point on court three with a 21-14, 21-15 win over Courtney Burnham and Madeline Sigmon.

On court four, Ava Novello and Karis Gordon defeated Ellie Neville and Kaylie Drysdale in three sets, 19-21, 21-19, 15-11.

The deciding point came on court five where Kealy Dinner and Ella Mozeleski rallied for a three-set victory over Jillian Stein and Olivia Pippin, 16-21, 21-17, 15-11, to secure the 3-2 dual win.

The Panthers return to Atlanta to host the Day of Duals on Wednesday, March 11.
