Panthers Fall to Coastal Carolina 72-68 in OT

Box Score ATLANTA-Despite Eliel Nsoseme's first double-double of the season, the Georgia State men's basketball team fell to Coastal Carolina 72-68 in overtime on Saturday afternoon at the GSU Sports Arena.

Nsoseme finished with 19 points and 15 rebounds, but his performance could not help Georgia State (6-9, 0-4 Sun Belt) overcome shooting just 3-of-28 from 3-point range. It was the seventh double-double of his career as he finished just three points shy of a career-high.

The Panthers lost for the fifth-straight time despite forcing Coastal Carolina (11-8, 3-4 Sun Belt) into 20 turnovers. Georgia State outrebounded Coastal Carolina 50-44, pulling down 27 offensive rebounds, but shot just 31.7 from the floor.

Freshman Ja'Heim Hudson added 15 points and seven rebounds, but his 3-pointer at the end of regulation as time expired was just off the mark.

Coastal Carolina was led by Vince Cole who scored 23 points, one of five Chanticleers to score in double figures. Rudi Williams added 15 points, while Wilfried Likayi pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds.

Senior Kane Williams finished with eight points going 6-of-7 from the free throw line and moving ahead of R.J. Hunter with 454 career free throws, the most in school history. Williams already owns the most games played record, most free throw attempts record and is now fifth on the all-time scoring list.

Coastal Carolina took an early lead but never led by more than four, 19-15, with 13:33 to play in the first half.

Georgia State responded with a 7-0 run capped by a Collin Moore lay-up to give GSU a 22-19 lead with 5:38 to play, a lead the Panthers would not give up the rest of the half.

A Nsoseme lay-up with 1:42 to play capped a 6-0 Panther run and gave GSU a 28-21 lead. Georgia State went into the locker room with a 30-26 lead after forcing Coastal Carolina into 13 first half turnovers which allowed the Panthers to overcome shooting just 2-of-17 from 3-point range.

The Chanticleers used an early 6-0 run in the second half to tie the game at 32 with 18:46 to play, but a pair of free throws by Williams with 18:00 to play gave the Panthers the lead and the super senior the all-time made free throws record.

A lay-up and free throw by Rudi Williams with 10:34 to play gave Coastal Carolina the lead once again, 46-45. A 3-point by Vince Cole with 4:52 to play pushed CCU's lead to 57-51.

Georgia State responded with an 8-0 run, capped by a pair of free throws by Hudson, to give the Panthers a 59-57 lead with 1:46 to play.

After Coastal Carolina tied the game, a 3-pointer by Hudson from the corner as time expired was off the mark and sent the two teams into overtime tied 59-59.

In overtime, Nsoseme scored the first six points for Georgia State, but a pair of free throws by CCU's Cole with 1:01 to play put the Chanticleers ahead 70-67 to play, a lead Coastal would never relinquish.
