Panthers to Face Georgia Southern at Sun Belt Tournament

ATLANTA -- Georgia State travels to Troy, Ala., this week to take on Georgia Southern in the opening round of the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Softball Championship.

The Panthers and Eagles will play at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN+. Information regarding the tournament, including tickets, can be found here.

Georgia State and Georgia Southern will meet for the fourth time in a week after the two sides closed out the regular season with a three-game series Thursday and Friday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

GSU hit the ball well in the series with seven players collecting three or more hits. Bailee Richardson went 6-for-11 with two doubles, two home runs, and two RBI, scoring four times. Daisy Hess went 6-for-12 with a homer and four RBI, and Emily Brown went 7-for-15 with a double, two triples, and three RBI. 

The opening round of this year's tournament is single elimination. With a win Tuesday, Georgia State would advance to the double elimination round and face Texas State at 6:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday.
