Freshman golfer Mahina Leveau is the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week after playing near record-setting golf at the Georgia State Invitational.
Playing in just her fourth collegiate event, the rookie from Beauvais, France, tied for second at the Georgia State Invitational at Rivermont Golf Club last week. Her three-round total of 212 is the fourth-lowest three-round score in school history and just two strokes behind the school record of 2010 set by Iliska Verwey at the 2008 Cincinnati Fall Classic.
Leveau's second-round 5-under 67 included six birdies and tied for Georgia State's lowest round of the year and third-lowest round in program history. That round equaled Petra Duran's 67 from the Spring Break Shootout earlier this month and Harmanprit Kaur's 67 at the 2018 USA Intercollegiate. The 67 was also the second-lowest second round score in program history.
The second-place showing was Leveau's third top 25 finish and second top 10 in four events this spring. The freshman has finished as the top Panther in three of GSU's four events this spring. She also finished as the top player among the four Sun Belt Conference teams competing in the event.
