AUGUSTA, Ga. – The Georgia State men's golf team shot four rounds of par or better during the opening two rounds of the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational to stand in 10th place in a field that includes eight top 40 ranked teams on Saturday.
The low round of the day went to senior Egill Gunnarsson who opened play with a 4-under 68 on Saturday morning. After a second round 78 he stands tied for 41st with 18 holes to play.
Senior Josh Edgar led the Panthers on Saturday with rounds of 72 and 70 to stand in a tie for 22nd entering Sunday. He is looking for his fourth top 25 finish of the spring in just five tournaments.
Owen Sertl made an eagle on his final hole of play on Saturday to shoot a second round 70 and stand tied for 48th at 3-over par.
After an opening round 295, Georgia State shot an even par 288 in the afternoon to stand in 10th place of 15 teams at 7-over par. The Panthers are four strokes ahead of No. 38 South Carolina as well as three strokes ahead of host Augusta and Kennesaw State. The Panthers are also just one stroke behind No. 24 South Florida and seven strokes back of No. 6 Arizona State.
The top four teams in the standings all rank among the top 33 teams in the country, including Nos. 3 and 5.
