Men's Basketball Announces Signing of WKU Transfer Jordan Rawls

ATLANTA – Georgia State head coach Rob Lanier announced Tuesday the signing of Western Kentucky transfer Jordan Rawls to the Panther roster for the 2021-22 season.

Rawls, who spent the previous two seasons at WKU will have three years of eligibility remaining once joining the squad this summer.

The 6-1 guard from Chattanooga, Tenn., started five games for the Hilltoppers during 2020-21 season, averaging 8.3 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 2.1 assists. Rawls shot 37.9 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from 3-point range and 89.5 percent from the free-throw line helping WKU going 21-8.

Rawls led WKU with 20 points, eight assists and five rebounds, and scored 10 of the team's first 12 points in Western Kentucky's NIT Quarterfinals match-up with Louisiana Tech last month.

As a freshman, Rawls played all 30 games, starting 16 and earning Conference USA All-Freshman Team honors. He averaged 7.9 points, 2.2 assists and 1.4 rebounds per game, shooting 38.5 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from 3-point range.

"I've known Jordan since he was maybe a freshman or sophomore in high school," Lanier said. "It was obvious then that he is a good person and a gifted player. He possesses tremendous offensive skill and plays the game with poise and confidence. He is coming from a winning program and he has performed in big moments so that experience has such great value. The biggest thing though, is Jordan knew we had a deep team with established players and yet trusted our vision for him and made winning the priority. We expect great things from him."

Rawls came to WKU out of Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Chattanooga as a four-star prospect by 247Sports and Rivals. He averaged 23 points and seven assists per game in 2018-19 as a senior and led the Hawks to National Association of Christian Athletics Division I national championship and a 34-4 record, the program's third championship in four years. Rawls was ranked as high as the No. 80 player in the country.

Georgia State, coming off a 16-6 season including a Sun Belt Conference East Division title and third-straight appearance in the conference tournament championship game, has now signed four newcomers for the 2021-22 season.
