Georgia State Falls at Louisiana

LAFAYETTE, La. --The Georgia State men's basketball team got a 24-point performance from the bench, but fell 82-72 to the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns on the road Thursday.

The Panthers had four players score in double figures, led by Malachi Brown, who had a career-high 25 points. Jelani Hamilton added 14 points, seven rebounds and two steals and Jakai Newton helped out with 12 points from the bench.

Led by Joah Chappelle's four offensive rebounds, Georgia State did a great job crashing the offensive glass, pulling down 13 boards that resulted in 12 second chance points.


How It Happened

Georgia State struggled out of the gate, falling behind 46-28 heading into halftime.

Louisiana kept widening its lead after intermission, constructing a 54-28 advantage before Georgia State went on a 12-0 run to shrink the deficit to 54-40 with 14:40 to go in the contest. The Panthers kept their comeback going, but Louisiana managed to hold on for the 82-72 win. Georgia State got a boost from its bench in the period, as non-starters accounted for 12 of its 44 total points.
