Softball to Visit No. 18 Georgia Wednesday

ATLANTA -- Winners of four of their last six, Georgia State travels to Athens Wednesday for the second meeting this season with the No. 18 Georgia Bulldogs.

The Panthers have faced each other in 11 consecutive seasons with Georgia holding an 17-4 advantage in the series. All four wins for GSU came in Athens. GSU last defeated the Bulldogs in 2013 and 2014. GSU fell 7-0 in the first meeting on Feb. 27 at the Heck Softball Complex.

Georgia State went 3-2 last weekend in Jacksonville at the JU-UNF Spring Break Challenge. The Panthers scored 13 runs in back-to-back games Saturday and Sunday after posting 10 on the board Friday. The Panthers have now scored double-digit runs in five of their first 17 games.

The powerful GSU offense is led by Daisy Hess and Bailee Richardson. Hess leads the team with 20 RBI, most for a Panther through the first 17 games since Callie Alford in 2015. Richardson is hitting a team-best .426 with three homers and 17 RBI.

Wednesday's game in Athens can be streamed live on SEC Network Plus with Karlie Smith on the call.
