Softball to Start Conference Play at Home This Weekend

ATLANTA -- Georgia State will host Troy for three games Friday through Sunday to kick off Sun Belt Conference action at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

The Panthers and Trojans will meet at 5 p.m. Friday, Saturday at 1 p.m., and Sunday at 1 p.m. Fans are permitted at the Heck Softball Complex. GSU asks that fans wear masks and adhere to social distancing policies while enjoying the games.

Georgia State is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Chattanooga on Saturday. The Panthers scored a combined 14 runs in the two wins while holding the Mocs to four. Daisy Hess hit a pair of three-run homers and leads GSU and the Sun Belt with 27 RBI. That tally also ranks 14th in NCAA D-I.

The Panthers sit at 12-8 while the Trojans own a 19-6 record. Troy opened Sun Belt play last weekend with a three-game sweep of UTA.

GSU's offense ranks second in the conference in home runs per game and walks, and third in batting average, scoring, and stolen bases per game. Emily Buck leads the pitching staff with 34.0 IP, a 2.47 ERA, and a 3-1 record with two shutouts.
