Hess is Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA - After leading the softball team to a sweep of Chattanooga on Saturday, Daisy Hess has been named the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week on Monday.

Hess went 5-for-11 (.455) with two home runs, a double and seven RBI as Georgia State swept Chattanooga in a doubleheader Saturday after falling at No. 18 Georgia on Wednesday.

Hess hit a three-run homer in both of GSU's wins over the Mocs as the Panthers won 6-2 in Game 1 and 8-2 in Game 2. The sophomore shortstop was perfect in the field with a team-high nine assists and slugged 1.091 at the plate.

For the season, Hess leads the team in RBI with 27 and entered the weekend ranked 26th in D-1 softball. She also ranks Top 20 in the country in doubles after adding another in Saturday's action.

Hess and the Panthers are scheduled to open Sun Belt Conference play hosting Texas State on Tuesday at 2 p.m., at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.
