Eatonton, Ga. – Georgia State sophomore Will Chambless shot an opening round 1-under 71 to lead the Panthers following the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational at Great Waters at Reynolds Plantation.
Chambless' unique round did not include a birdie but did include an eagle and just one bogey as he stands tied for 14th with two rounds to play.
The Panthers shot an opening round 11-over 299 and stand in 14th place entering the second round on Saturday. No. 40 Georgia Tech shot a 5-under 283 on Friday to lead the 16-team field.
Georgia State is making its first appearance in the event since 2015 and has finished as high as second back in 2007.
