The Panther Insider Podcast Driven by Ford continues with Episode 90 as we welcome Georgia State football's Jamil Muhammad along with men's soccer coach Brett Surrency to the podcast. Both football and men's soccer are enjoying great success and the pair join the Voice of the Panthers Dave Cohen to talk about those successes and much more.
Muhammad played a key role in Georgia State's 42-40 win over No. 21 Coastal Carolina last Saturday in Conway. Late in the game against the Chanticleers, Muhammad sacked quarterback Bryce Carpenter, causing a fumble that Jontrey Hunter recovered at the Coastal 8-yard line. Two plays later, Tucker Gregg punched in his third touchdown of the day with a 4-yard run, and Georgia State led 42-34 with 2:36 to play. It marked the first win over a ranked program in GSU football history.
Surrency is preparing the Panthers for one of the biggest matches in program history after receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament on Monday. Surrency has led Georgia State to a 12-6 record this year, a pair of wins over Top 25 teams, and the championship game of the MAC Tournament in their first year in the league. Now the Panthers are preparing to play Charlotte with a chance to pick up the first NCAA Tournament win in program history.
The Panther Insider Podcast Driven by Ford launched in August 2019 and has featured coaches, administration, along with current and former student-athletes. The semi-weekly podcast will tell the stories of GSU student-athletes, coaches, and all those surrounding the Georgia State Athletics program.
