ATLANTA – With basketball practice underway and an exciting season for both the Georgia State men and women's programs just around the corner, GSU Jam will return on Wednesday, Oct. 20, inside the GSU Sports Arena.

The free event, which is open to the public, will serve as the first opportunity for fans to see the teams up-close and personal. It will also serve as a pep rally for the Oct. 23, Homecoming football game against Texas State.

Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with the event getting underway at 7 p.m., with a DJ and live music. Members of the football team will also be on hand to address the crowd as they prepare for the annual Homecoming game against Texas State on Oct. 23, at 2 p.m. at Center Parc Stadium.

The night will feature an introduction of both the men and women's teams, 3-point contests and a slam dunk contest.

The men's basketball program under third-year head coach Rob Lanier enters the 2021-22 season coming off a 16-6 year and third-straight appearance in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game. All five starters, who each averaged in double figures return, including 'super seniors' Corey Allen and Kane Williams.

The women's basketball team under fourth-year head coach Gene Hill are coming off a 13-11 2020-21 season in which the Panthers earned the No. 2-seed in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference. It marked Georgia State's best league finish in 20 years. Hill returns a deep squad including Taniyah Worth, Hannah Sadler, Tehya Lyons, and Ashley Foster.
