Eva Chivu Named Sun Belt Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week

This marks the first Sun Belt player of the week honor for the Romania Native

 
ATLANTA – Georgia State women's tennis player Eva Chivu was named Sun Belt Women's Tennis Player of the week, the league announced Wednesday.. 
 
Chivu defeated No. 79 Taylor Russo in straight sets (6-2, 6-0), earning Georgia State a point over Auburn on Saturday.
 
The Romania native has compiled a 2-1 record in singles play, blanking her opposition in half of the sets she has played. In doubles action Chivu has partnered with freshman Angel Carney. The duo earned a win over McNeese State on opening weekend.
 
The sophomore is coming off an impressive freshman campaign, earning Sun Belt Freshman of the Year honors. She finished last season 12-7 overall and 8-2 against conference opposition.
 
Chivu and the Panthers take on ETSU on Friday in Johnson City, Tenn. Georgia State will stay in the Volunteer State to battle VCU Saturday.
