Men's Basketball Hosts College of Charleston Monday Night

Panthers off to best start since 2000-01

ATLANTA-Closing out the non-conference portion of the schedule and looking to continue to build on the program's best start in 20 years, Georgia State will host the College of Charleston on Monday night at 7 p.m., at the GSU Sports Arena.

Georgia State (5-1) has won three-straight after scoring over the century mark again on Friday as a school-record tying seven Panthers finished in double figures against Carver College. The Panthers are averaging 97.2 points per game, ranked No. 3 in the NCAA, and have already matched the most times scoring 100 or more points in a game in a single season in program history.

The College of Charleston (2-4) comes to Atlanta looking to extend a 12-game winning streak over the Panthers. The two teams met last season with the Cougars winning 84-80 in a thriller in Charleston that wasn't decided until the final seconds.

The Panthers are currently ranked No. 10 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25 Poll and are off to their best start since the 2000-01 season when a 7-0 start led to a school-record 29 wins and the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Redshirt-junior Eliel Nsoseme leads the Panthers averaging a double-double of 14.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game. He is shooting 62.7 percent from the floor for a Panther squad shooting 50.0 percent from the floor this season.

Junior Justin Roberts leads the Panthers in scoring averaging 15.5 points per game, while senior Kane Williams, who became the 23rd Georgia State player to score 1,000 career points earlier this year, is averaging 14.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per contest. Fellow senior Corey Allen rounds out the double figure scorers adding 14.5 points per game. He has knocked down a team-high 21 3-pointers this year.
