Men's Basketball Announces Signings of Danny Stubbs and Jamall Clyce

ATLANTA – Georgia State head coach Rob Lanier announced Wednesday the signing of Pebblebrook High School teammates Danny Stubbs and Jamall Clyce to the Panther roster for the 2020-21 season.

Stubbs, a 6-0, 172-pound guard from Austell, is listed as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports. The organization also lists him as the 11th-best player in the state and 15th-best combo guard in the country.

Clyce, a 6-6, 185-pound forward, is also listed as a 3-star prospect by 247Sports. He is ranked as the 18th-best player in Georgia and the 51st-best small forward in the nation.

Stubbs has led Pebblebrook to a great deal of success in the last few seasons. As a junior, he averaged 15.9 points per game while earning Class 7-A South All-State and All-Region First-Team honors.

He averaged 13.7 points as a sophomore, while helping his team to a region championship as a freshman.

"Danny is a complete guard," Lanier said. "He has the ability to defend, he's tough, he has a high skill level and he is an exceptional shooter with deep range. This is a perfect fit. We want to play fast with multiple guards who can handle, score the ball, and make decisions. Danny brings all of those things and he's also a young man of very high character and strong work habits. I am absolutely thrilled that Danny is joining us."

Clyce averaged 17 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for Pebblebrook as a junior while earning Class 7-A South All-State First Team honors. One of his best games of the year came scoring 27 points and grabbing 13 rebounds against Therrell High School.

As a sophomore he averaged 10.5 points and seven rebounds per game, following a freshman campaign that saw him garner the Coaches Award after averaging 5.2 points and 2.2 rebounds per contest.

"Early on in my very first recruiting trip as the head coach at Georgia State I caught a glance of Jamall and couldn't take my eyes off of him," Lanier said. "I knew I wanted to coach him that day and he immediately became a priority for us. His energy and the passion he plays with is contagious. His defense, his toughness, his ability to shoot the basketball and his overall character as a person will make us better as a program. I couldn't be more excited to have Jamall become a Panther."

Georgia State will open the 2020-21 season on Nov. 25, traveling just across town to face Georgia Tech.
