Panthers Drop 11-Inning Contest to Trojans

TROY, Ala. – Georgia State and Troy went to 11 innings in Game 2 of the series with the Trojans taking the game 2-1 on a walk-off single. The Trojans then won the series finale 3-0.

After severe weather halted Game 2 on Saturday, the two sides resumed play Sunday, beginning in the top of the seventh with a 1-1 score.

Kristin Hawkins had previously tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the sixth on Saturday before lightning moved into the area.

The Panthers threatened several times in extra innings but couldn't push the go-ahead run across.

Emily Soles threw three hitless innings before Troy finally broke through in the bottom of the 11th.

The Trojans won the game on a walk-off single to center field.

In Game 3 of the series, Troy sent Leanna Johnson to the circle. Johnson was stellar for Troy, tossing a no-hitter to hand GSU a 3-0 defeat.

Next up for Georgia State is a midweek trip to No. 4 Alabama on Wednesday.
