TROY, Ala. – Georgia State and Troy went to 11 innings in Game 2 of the series with the Trojans taking the game 2-1 on a walk-off single. The Trojans then won the series finale 3-0.
After severe weather halted Game 2 on Saturday, the two sides resumed play Sunday, beginning in the top of the seventh with a 1-1 score.
Kristin Hawkins had previously tied the game with a solo home run in the top of the sixth on Saturday before lightning moved into the area.
The Panthers threatened several times in extra innings but couldn't push the go-ahead run across.
Emily Soles threw three hitless innings before Troy finally broke through in the bottom of the 11th.
The Trojans won the game on a walk-off single to center field.
In Game 3 of the series, Troy sent Leanna Johnson to the circle. Johnson was stellar for Troy, tossing a no-hitter to hand GSU a 3-0 defeat.
Next up for Georgia State is a midweek trip to No. 4 Alabama on Wednesday.
