Hasty Homers in Win at Kennesaw State

KENNESAW, Ga. – Georgia State got off to a hot start Wednesday night at Kennesaw State and never surrendered the lead, defeating the Owls 3-2.

Kennesaw State got the tying run to second base and the winning run to first with two outs in the seventh, but Kristin Hawkins laid out full extension in foul territory to snag a foul ball and end the game.

A Caitlin Ray single scored Alyssa Brumelow in the top of the second for the first run of the game.

In the top of the third, Remington Hasty blasted a long solo home run to left field, her fourth of the season. Hasty continues to lead the team in RBI with 19 on the year.

GSU padded their lead with a third run off a Baylee Sexton single to cap off the third.

Kennesaw State got on the board in the bottom of the third, pushing a pair of runs across to make it a one-run ballgame.

Savannah Freeman entered the circle in relief for the Panthers in third inning and was outstanding. Freeman closed out the game, throwing 4.2 scoreless innings and allowing just two hits to seal the victory for the Panthers, her third on the year.

Next up for GSU is a three-game series at Louisiana beginning Thursday night in Lafayette.
