Panthers Rally to Tie, Fall 4-3 on Walk-Off

SAN MARCOS, Texas - Georgia State was defeated 4-3 on a walk-off fielder's choice in Game 2 of the three-game series at Texas State Saturday.

Trailing 3-1 in the top of the seventh, Georgia State got the tying run on base after pinch hitter Kalynn Hicks was hit by a pitch. Caitlin Ray then doubled to right-center to make it a 3-2 game, leaving runners on second and third with one out.

The next batter, Reagan Morgan, singled up the middle to drive in the tying run.

Texas State drew a walk to start the bottom of the seventh. After a pair of wild pitches advanced the runner to second and then third base, Samara Lagway sent a ground ball to short. Jess Neadow fielded the short-hop and fired a throw home in time to retire the runner at the plate.

With one out and runners on second and third, Texas State's Kennedy Cline hit a grounder to second, but it was soft enough to allow the runner from third to score safely to win the game for the Bobcats, 4-3.

Ray and Morgan each finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI. Mallory Parson got the start in the circle for GSU and allowed three earned over 4.1 innings of work.

The Panthers and Bobcats will play Game 3 of the series Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
