Softball Falls in Doubleheader to Western Carolina

ATLANTA - Georgia State lost both games of a doubleheader to Western Carolina Friday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

Georgia State lost 6-3 in Game 1 as Western Carolina used three home runs to overpower the Panthers. GSU scrapped together seven hits but left eight runners on base.

The Catamounts and Panthers traded runs in the first inning. WCU pushed across a run in the second and two more in the third to lead 4-1. Georgia State scored a pair in the home half to pull within one, but WCU added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to win 6-3.

Caitlin Ray was 2-for-4 with an RBI in the game.

In the second game, Georgia State led 4-1 going into the top of the seventh, but WCU tallied four runs in the inning to take a 5-4 lead. GSU was unable to rally in the bottom of the inning.

GSU left 12 runners on base and left the bases loaded twice in the game.

Remington Hasty was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a walk.

The I-75 Challenge continues Saturday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex as GSU hosts Fordham for a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m.
