Drake Gets RBI No. 60 as Panthers Fall to ULM

MONROE, La. – Georgia State's softball team scored four unanswered runs over the final two innings but couldn't overcome ULM's lead as the Panthers fell to the Warhawks 8-5 Sunday in Monroe.

Georgia State scored first with a solo home run by Ivie Drake in the third inning. It was Drake's 18th of the season and third of the series. Drake picked up her 60th RBI of the season with the dinger.

It's just the sixth time in school history a Panther has recorded 60 RBI in a year. Drake has done it twice in her career and holds the single-season record of 67.

The Warhawks answered with two runs in the third and then exploded for a six-run fifth inning to take an 8-1 lead.

Georgia State mounted a comeback in the sixth inning as Megan Litumbe singled with one out. Skylar Mosel then doubled to bring home Cassidy Faulk who had entered as a pinch runner for Litumbe.

The next batter, Arden Jobe hit another double to score both Mosel and Kristin Hawkins to make it 8-4, ULM.

The Panthers crept closer on a Mosel sacrifice fly, but the Warhawks held on to win 8-5 to avoid being swept by the Panthers.

Kinsley Jennings allowed three earned runs through 4.1 innings and Mandy Chance didn't allow an earned run over the final 1.2 innings.

With the loss, Georgia State drops to 27-21 (12-10 SBC).

Four regular-season games remain for GSU in 2018. The Panthers will host Chattanooga Wednesday before welcoming rival Georgia Southern to town for the final Sun Belt series of the year.
