Softball Falls in Series Finale

MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State's softball team was defeated 5-0 at South Alabama Sunday afternoon in the series finale against the Jaguars.

Georgia State's offense was kept in check as the Panthers were held scoreless on six hits.

South Alabama used three double plays to get off the field and prevent GSU form stringing multiple hits together.

The Jaguars took a 1-0 lead on a solo home run in the bottom of the second, but it was the fourth inning where USA pulled away.

South Alabama loaded the bases with no outs when Kristian Foster cleared the bases with a grounder that was called fair as it hopped over third base and into foul territory in left field.

Foster would later come home on a sacrifice fly four the fourth run in the inning to make it 5-0, USA.

Ivie Drake finished the game 1-for-3 and has now recorded a hit in 18 of her last 19 games.

Kristin Hawkins went 2-for-3 with a double.

Next up for Georgia State is a visit to Georgia Tech on Wednesday.
