MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State's softball team split a doubleheader with South Alabama in Mobile Saturday afternoon. Megan Litumbe homered twice, and Ivie Drake also homered as GSU moved to 15-14 (2-5 SBC) on the year.
Game 1: GSU 6, USA 5
South Alabama struck first with two runs on two hits and an error in the bottom of the first.
Down 2-0, Megan Litumbe launched her 58th career home run in the top of the second to cut South Alabama's lead in half.
Ivie Drake gave the Panthers a 3-2 advantage with a two-run jack in the top of the fourth. It was her sixth of the season and 53rd career home run.
The Panthers would pull back in front in the top of the sixth when Brenna Skalski came home on a sacrifice fly by Drake.
The next batter, Litumbe, then hit her second homer of the game with a runner on to make it a 6-3 ballgame. It marked the 10th time in her career she's hit multiple home runs in a single game.
South Alabama got two runs back in the home half of the inning on two hits, but left the bases loaded as GSU managed to stay on top, 6-5.
Kinsley Jennings came on in relief of starting pitcher Mandy Chance and finished off the Jags, picking up her second save of the season over 1.1 innings of work.
Chance improved to 3-5 on the year, going 5.2 innings and allowing three earned on six hits.
Game 2: GSU 10, USA 3
Georgia State wasted no time going ahead in Game 2. The Panthers struck for three runs on four hits in the top of the first. Remington Hasty, Arden Jobe and Skylar Mosel each picked up RBI in the frame.
South Alabama got a run back in the bottom of the second before erupting for seven runs on seven hits and two errors in the bottom of the third to take an 8-3 lead.
USA added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to even the series at 1-1 with a 10-3 win.
Game 3 of the series is Sunday at 2 p.m. ET in Mobile, Ala.
