Panthers Come Up Short to Georgia Southern

ATLANTA — Georgia State softball fell 4-1 to the Georgia Southern Eagles on Thursday night at the Bob Heck Softball Complex.

Briana Bower provided a strong outing in relief, tossing 6.1 innings without allowing an earned run. She surrendered just three hits, walked one and struck out three.

At the plate, the Panthers were led by Lauren Brister, who went 1-for-3 with the team's lone RBI. Georgia State totaled four hits in the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Georgia Southern struck first in the opening inning with a two-RBI double to take an early 2-0 lead.

The Panthers answered in the bottom half of the frame when Lauren Brister delivered an RBI single to right field, scoring Maya Bagsby and cutting the deficit to 2-1.

Georgia State held the Eagles in check behind strong relief pitching from Bower, but Georgia Southern added two unearned runs in the seventh inning to extend the lead and secure the 4-1 final.
