HARRISONBURG, Va. – Georgia State softball mounted a late push on Sunday, but fell short 6-3 in the series finale to the James Madison Dukes at Veterans Memorial Park.
HOW IT HAPPENED
James Madison struck first with a run in the opening inning before adding two more in the third and single runs in the fourth and fifth to build a 5-0 advantage.
Georgia State answered in the sixth inning. Chloe Hatcher drew a walk and Payton O'Connor came around to score on a two-run single from Morgan Willingham. Later in the frame, Kya Walker lined an RBI single through the left side to bring home Ciarra Jefferson and cut the deficit to 5-3.
The Dukes responded with an unearned run in the bottom half of the inning and closed out the final frame to secure the 6-3 win.
