Panthers Drop Final Two Games in Arlington

ARLINGTON, Texas – Georgia State's softball team lost the three-game series to UT Arlington as the Mavericks pulled out wins in Games 2 and 3 Sunday in Texas.

After being suspended in the fifth inning due to weather Saturday, Game 2 was resumed Sunday morning with UT Arlington holding a 3-0 lead with two outs in the top of the fifth.

Ivie Drake launched her fifth home run of the season in the sixth inning to make it a 3-1 game, but the Panthers were held scoreless in the seventh as UTA would hold on to win.

Georgia State's offense struggled in Game 3 as UT Arlington's Randi Phillips threw a no-hitter, guiding the Mavericks to a 4-0 victory in the rubber match.

Kinsley Jennings pitched well for Georgia State, lasting 5.1 innings and allowing just two earned runs.

Georgia State hosts Mercer Wednesday at the Bob Heck Softball Complex before going back on the road over the weekend to visit South Alabama.
