AUBURN, Ala. – Georgia State's softball team went 1-1 on Day 2 of the Tiger Invite, defeating Delaware 14-2 and falling to Saint Francis 8-1 at the Jane B. Moore Field.
Game 1: Georgia State 14, Delaware 2 (Five Innings)
Georgia State scored 14 runs on 12 hits to take down Delaware for the second day in a row. The Panthers took advantage of seven errors by the Blue Hens. Baylee Sexton, Ivie Drake, Arden Jobe and Brenna Skalski each had multi-hit games. Seven different hitters for GSU recorded a hit in the contest.
Georgia State exploded for nine runs in the second inning to take an 11-0 lead and would cruise from there to earn the five-inning victory.
Emily Soles Threw 2.2 scoreless innings and held Delaware hitless to improve to 2-2 on the season.
Game 2: Saint Francis 8, Georgia State 1
Reagan Morgan went 2-for-3 and Ivie Drake drove in a run, but the Panthers couldn't overcome a five-run fifth inning from the Red Flash.
Saint Francis hit four home runs in the game to hand Georgia State its first loss on the weekend.
Georgia State took a 1-0 lead in the first, but the Red Flash evened the score in the second at 1-1.
Saint Francis and GSU traded scoreless frames until the Red Flash hit two home runs, including a grand slam, in the fifth inning. SFU added two more runs in the sixth to go up 8-1 in what would be the final result.
Georgia State will face No. 13 Auburn Sunday at 2 p.m. ET on SEC Network+.
